The solar challenge is a distance-based race, and not a timed race, with the team harvesting the most kilometres from the sun during the event declared the winner. The solar cars teams travelled roughly 2, 300 km from Johannesburg to Cape Town for eight days starting on 9 September. The route included five provinces and 18 towns, presenting the very challenging but diverse and beautiful landscape of South Africa.

“Ctrack is proud to be a partner of the prestigious Sasol Solar Challenge. We join forces to seek out cutting edge solutions and drive innovation that tackles real-world problems. Ctrack is also proud to present the Navigation Award to the University of the Free State Solar Car Team,” said Hein Jordt, Chief Executive Officer of Ctrack Africa.

As South Africa’s leading fleet management and asset monitoring solutions provider, Ctrack is proud to team up with the Sasol Solar Challenge, to drive progress and development in the world of sustainability. The next Sasol Solar event will take place in 2024 and a new route and other improvements are being considered.
